Welcome
This blog is something I’ve begun mostly for myself: to help me sift and make sense of my experiences and, hopefully, to find the joy that is inherit within them. Over the years, I have come across numerous blogs that seem to focus on life’s problems. These are blogs of complaint and negativity. They are draining.
I, too, can be found guilty of being a Negative Nelly. Cursed with a sarcastic wit and a good helping of snarkiness, I sometimes get pulled into this very kind of thing myself. It begins in good fun, but I soon become aware that the emotions I’m fostering are mostly negative, and this is when I draw myself up and say, “Couldn’t you be doing something more positive?”
I believe that, when we think about happiness for ourselves, we find that the truths we are seeking, discovering, are often universal. With some exceptions (always) the human condition is the human condition everywhere. Most of us are driven by similar desires and similar impulses, feel similar pains and sorrows, feel similar joys and happiness.
So, I am embarking on a journey of sorts to chart my own happiness. A journey that will mostly be me talking about the everyday ins-and-outs of my life, the things that are on my mind.
Primarily, though, I want this blog to be a “happy” place. A happy place in the sense that it fosters the same desire in anyone who might read it to seek (and find) happiness in her own life. I don’t mean to disregard hurt, pain, sorrow, anger — the “negative” emotions. Quite the opposite, I mean to show that we can have no true happiness without them. They will be part of my blog, too, because these too are part of the human condition. To deny their existence, or to insist that their very presence precludes happiness, is to ensure that the goal of a “Happy Life” is never to be reached. By any of us. And I don’t believe this is true.
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you will do so often and that this place will become a joy-giving, life-affirming part of your day.
