The Joy List ~ 16 May 2010

May 16th, 2010 Posted in The Joy List

Every Sunday here on Living Happiness we pay tribute to the moments in the past week where we experienced joy. Not only do I add to my own Joy List, but recently my readers have begun adding contributions of their own.

Here are  this week’s additions to the list:

1.  My students, who are actually my greatest teachers.  ~Helena Stakounis

2.  Learning and participating in higher education, making a difference in my workspace to shine a little despite what some do or try to do, and getting all my work completed! … Time management, being effective, and lastly eating healthy foods that make me feel good.  ~Jessica Williford

3.  I still have my doves coming into the yard.  I now also have a red cardinal family stopping by for a bath and food. Love watching their behavior.  ~Carolyn Cummins

My additions:

4.  Picking the first three zucchini from our new garden: they will be used to make homemade Cretan boureki later today

5.  Having coffee with two of my girlfriends one afternoon at a café by the sea

6.  Letters from childhood friends

7.  Long talks with my husband

What about you?

What moments have brought you the most joy this past week?

What would you like to add to the Joy List?

Abundant blessings today,

  1. Chania Girl,
And it just sounds like a wonderful (and joy-filled!) week you have had!!

    For me, I would add:
    - Lunch with a fellow blogger (and our first in-person meeting)!
    - Getting lost while running (at our nation’s capitol) and because of that, seeing some new and interesting places.
    - A pickup game of dodgeball in the backyard.

Life is filled with all sorts of joy-filled moments!!

I love the new look here!!!!!

    • Thank you, Lance! I’m glad the new look sits well with you. :)
I loved your additions to today’s list, as well: all of these sound absolutely joyous. No wonder you’re such a happy, crazy loon. ;)

  2. Carolyn Cummins says:

Love the new format you have. Love you too, but I would, I’m your mother and greatest fan!

    • Thank you, Mom! It was a lovely surprise to see your comment here today. Love you too! :)

    • I’m back again (see, I can’t get enough of this place!!) (I really can’t – it’s awesome!!!)

Okay – so I thought I was your greatest fan!!! I have to compete with your Mom, though! Yikes!! That could be a challenge!!!

(breaking out the pom poms!!) (I AM!!)

      • Well, now. That is a look for you I hadn’t thought about! Will these pom-poms also include the tiara and pink boa of your post a few weeks back? :D

Thank you for the laugh and the support today.

        • Definitely – this includes the tiara and pink boa!!!! Watch out, Mom (well…your Mom!!)!!! I’m gonna give you a run for your money on that “greatest fan” title!!

(hmmm….why do I think Mom is still going to come out ahead!?!?!?!?)

    • Thank you, PP. I’m excited about it and hope other people find it easier to enjoy, too. It was great to see you today. Will popping by “your place” sometime soon too. :)

  5. I love the new look and that fabulous list. The moments I would add for my week include:

~ running as fast as I could just for fun

    ~ great writing time

~ smoothies made with fresh berries

~ laughing on the phone with a dear friend

~ finding out one of my favorite people is having a baby boy this fall

Hoping the new week brings oodles of joy your way. :)

    • Hi, CC. I loved your additions to the list (G and I make fresh smoothies almost every day in the summer). Thank you for sharing these moments of joy — running, laughter, writing, celebrating — all wonderful. Wishing another joyful week right back at you. :)

  6. I got on my motorcycle for the first time in a long time, and it felt great — the sky was blue, the sun was warm, and the breeze was just right.

    • I loved this, JD. My husband has a motorbike, and I love the feeling of being on the back of the bike with the sun shining and the wind blowing across my skin. An amazing feeling! Thank you for sharing this … and thank you for stopping by today. It was great to see you! :)

  7. I love this idea of a joy list and it’s fun to read the other comments. Here are my additions:

Sitting outside on the porch in the evening after a rainstorm, watching the birds fly back and forth to the feeder from the raindrop filled bushes:~)

Laughing at the squirrel who daringly leaps from the Crepe Myrtle bush to the bird feeder and, more often than not, slides off to land on the ground…only to do it all over again:~)

Learning to do something new on my blog without any help:~)

Enjoying time with my boyfriend now that his work schedule has lightened. We even took a nice long walk around the neighborhood:~)

Thank you for reminding me of these joyful moments. I wish you many more joy moments in this coming week:~)
.-= Sara´s last blog ..Story Photo: The Dragonfly =-.

    • Thank you, Sara. Your additions to the list are beautiful. :) One of my favorite things in the world is being on the porch in the evening after a rainstorm. Just the smell of it is intoxicating! Congratulations to you, btw, for learning a new blog trick with no help (can’t blogging just be boogery sometimes?). Was lovely to see you today, as always. :)

  8. ~ Going on new adventures with my boyfriend, especially when we travel together

~ Watching a really great, beautiful, touching film

    ~ Yoga

~ Spending an entire Summers day outside in the company of loved ones

~ Cooking a meal with my family

~ Feeling inspired to create beautiful photographs

~ Losing myself in a book or magazine

    • Hi, Falcon. I’m so glad you stopped by today, and I love the things you’ve added to the joy list. I think I could add ALL of the above myself! :D I hope to see you again.
