About Living Happiness

Living Happiness began its life as “My Pursuit of Happiness” one year ago. But because it was less a blog about pursuit than it was a blog about actually living happiness, the name was soon after changed. You will not find a lot of chasing going on here, but you will certainly find a lot of living.

I am not a guru. I am not a professional. I might, on rare occasions, try to give you some advice, but you don’t have to take it. I am just a woman in the world trying to live my life and live it more abundantly.

Here at Living Happiness you will find some key refrains:

  • I believe in positive thinking. We are what we think. If we focus on the positive, our lives will abound in positive things. The same is true with the negative.
  • I believe in intentionality. What we focus on is what we draw to us. If we give the majority of our attention to the negative, we will steer toward the negative just as surely as a car will veer toward the car wreck its driver is looking at. If we focus on the positive, we will see it manifest itself in ways in our lives that seem miraculous.
  • I believe in being present in the present. When we let our thoughts dwell in the past or worry about the future we surrender our energy to a history that cannot be changed and to a future that is not guaranteed. But … if we give that energy to the here and now, what riches we can experience.
  • I believe we are responsible for our own happiness. Many things outside of ourselves may be beautiful or lofty or good in their own right, but if we have not learned the secret of loving and honoring ourselves, we are still happiness impoverished.
  • I believe in taking risks. We can’t learn how to fly if we never leave the ground.

I write here in the belief that one person’s story (mine) is also the story of many. We learn from each other. Inasmuch as this blog is about me it’s about you, too. May you take from here your own courage to live your own happiness.
